GSLA Supply Chain Management HR Summit: Fostering Leadership, Inclusivity, and Resilience
The Global Supply Chain Leadership Alliance (GSLA) recently held its highly anticipated Supply Chain Management HR Summit at the LinkedIn office, a milestone event that reinforced the critical role of supply chain management in today’s interconnected world.
With the support of key stakeholders and industry leaders, this summit brought together professionals and experts to discuss pressing issues within the supply chain industry and explore opportunities for growth, talent development, and inclusivity.
GSLA’s mission has always been to build a dynamic and resilient supply chain that starts within the ASEAN region and expands globally. This vision was evident throughout the summit as attendees engaged in meaningful discussions and shared insights on creating stronger, more adaptable supply chains.
One of the key highlights of the summit was the presence of Mr. Desmond Tan, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), who graced the event as the Guest of Honour. His address centered on the importance of supply chain and talent development, highlighting how both the sector and its workforce must evolve to meet global challenges.
A proud moment during the summit was the introduction of the EmpowerAbility initiative, an inspiring program aimed at promoting inclusivity in the workforce. In partnership with Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) / Pathlight School, BOON SOFTWARE, and ITE College East, the initiative provides individuals from underrepresented segments, such as those on the autism spectrum, with opportunities to pursue careers in supply chain roles.
This initiative has already seen success, with several individuals placed in logistics positions, marking a significant step forward in employment inclusivity within the supply chain industry.
Another key moment was the launch of the ASEAN Next-Gen Mentoring Programme, which is designed to connect aspiring young professionals with seasoned industry veterans. This program is vital for nurturing leadership succession in supply chain management, an industry that plays a foundational role in the global economy but often lacks the attention it deserves.
The mentoring programme provides a platform for the next generation of leaders to learn from the experiences of industry veterans, offering them guidance and the tools they need to thrive in the ever-evolving world of supply chain and logistics.
The summit concluded with an inspiring panel discussion, where leading industry veterans shared their personal stories and insights on overcoming challenges and setbacks in their careers. Their experiences served as motivation for attendees, underscoring the resilience and determination required to succeed in the supply chain industry.
A special thanks was given to Ms. Ratna Juita, who delivered valuable advice on enhancing LinkedIn profiles, empowering participants to effectively showcase their skills and experiences to a wider professional audience.
The COVID-19 pandemic underscored just how essential strong and resilient supply chains are to the global economy. While often working behind the scenes, supply chain professionals are the backbone of industries worldwide. GSLA remains committed to supporting the growth and development of these vital sectors by fostering inclusivity, leadership, and innovation.
We are excited to continue our work with the next generation of supply chain leaders and are grateful to our partners, committee members, and all attendees who made the summit a success. Together, we are shaping the future of supply chain management, ensuring that it remains strong, dynamic, and ready for the challenges of tomorrow.
